Postdoctoral Researchers

Karrina received her undergraduate degree in Pharmaceutical and Industrial Chemistry from University of Limerick in 2009. In 2014, she graduated with a PhD in surface and interfacial analysis from the Department of Physics, University of Limerick. From 2014-2016 she was a postdoctoral researcher with the MOSAIC group focusing mainly on surface analysis of biomedical devices (stents & biopsy needles) using spectroscopy (XPS, FT-IR) and microscopy (SEM & TEM) techniques. She is currently the Research Co-ordinator for the MOSAIC group. Her research interests include surface and interface characterisation, biomedical materials and devices, nano-biomaterials for biomedical applications in particular treatment of breast cancer and cardiovascular disease.

After completing an undergraduate degree at the University of Liverpool (UK), Mohamed Noor graduated with a PhD from the University of Limerick (Ireland) in 2012. The thesis encompasses the bioenergetics of thermophilic Thermus thermophilus in comparison to mesophiles, and was performed under the tutelage of Prof. Tewfik Soulimane with funding from the Irish Research Council. Since then, he joined the same research group as a junior postdoctoral researcher on the EU FP7 LANIR project (www.lanir.eu) where he investigated membrane proteins for super-resolution label-free infrared imaging. Within CURAM, he is working on targeted therapeutics.

Ehtsham is an SFI industry Research Fellow presently based at Analog Devices International Limerick. He came from a Physics/Material Engineering background with a PhD in the electrical transport of electron spin through solid-state spin transport materials. Over the years, he has been involved in the development of magnetic materials, semi-conductors, ceramics and soft materials at material design and device levels. He also has an extensive background in Instrument design and construction especially development of Atomic Force, Scanning Near field and Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM) systems, and their applications to chemical and biological systems.

Nanasaheb’s research work covers multidisciplinary approaches including physics, chemistry, biochemistry and biology. The major focus of his present and past work is on the multifunctional nanomaterials, biomedical nanotechnology, cancer-nanotechnology and drug delivery, with expertise in the field of nanomaterial synthesis, characterization, nanoparticle-cell interaction, biochemical pathways to study Nano-biotechnology, Development of magnetic imaging resonance (MRI) contrast agents and anticancer drug delivery system.

Drahomir is postdoctoral researcher with the MOSAIC group. He received his PhD from the University of Limerick in 2014. His main research activities lie in solid state and computational physics and the prediction of structure and properties from theoretical models.
